Stichting Centre for Certified Legal and Tech Expertise (hereinafter: “CCLTE”) supports and develops professional education at the intersection of law and technology. In the context of the services we provide, we process personal data. In this privacy and cookie statement you can read which personal data we process and for what purposes.

Your privacy is of great importance to us. We therefore comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter: GGDPR). This means that we:

  • Record our purposes before we process your personal data, as set out in this privacy and cookie statement.

  • Store as little personal data as possible and only the data necessary for our purposes.

  • Ask for explicit consent for the processing of your personal data, should consent be required.

  • Take the necessary security measures to protect your personal data. We also impose these obligations on parties who process personal data on our behalf.

  • Respect your rights, such as the right of access, rectification or erasure of your personal data processed by us.

For which purposes do we use your personal data?

We obtain various personal data from you. For each purpose, we indicate which data we collect, the legal basis for processing, and the retention period. If you have questions or want to know exactly what data we hold about you, please contact us. Contact details can be found at the end of this statement.

1.    Registration and participation in the CCLTE Certified Professional Program

When you participate in the CCLTE Certified Professional Program, we process personal data to register your participation and provide access to the programme. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • Name

  • Company name (if applicable)

  • Certificate number

  • Education details (such as completed training)

  • Contact details (such as email address and phone number)

  • Invoice details (such as address and, if applicable PO number)

  • Payment details

We retain this data up to 2 years after you cancel your participation. Some data may be retained longer where legally required, for example due to a legal tax retention obligation of 7 years.

2.    Registration of Permanent Education (PE)

For the registration of PE points, we process personal data of certificate holders. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract, in order to record that you have completed an activity and to allocate the corresponding PE points to you.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • Name

  • Contact details (such as email address and phone number)

  • Certificate number

  • Information about attended training or events

  • Number PE-points obtained

We retain this data for as long as necessary to register and demonstrate the awarded PE points. In principle, we retain this data for up to 2 years after the training or event has taken place. Some data may be retained for a longer period if we are legally obliged to do so or if this is necessary to demonstrate that PE points have been correctly recorded.

3.    Contact and complaint handling

When you send us an email, complete the contact form on our website, contact us by phone, or otherwise reach out to us, you respond to our offer to engage in communication. The processing of your personal data in this context is based on our legitimate interest and, where applicable, necessary for the performance of a contract.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • Name

  • Business information (if you contact us from a business perspective)

  • Contact details (such as email address and phone number)

  • Any information you provide as part of the content of a message

We store these contact moments with the personal data you provide for the purpose of carrying out the contract and handling your complaint if necessary. We keep this information for as long as necessary for this contact or up to 2 years after we last had contact with you, because we want to make sure we have handled your question or complaint properly.

4.    Newsletter

On our website you can subscribe to our digital newsletter. Through this newsletter, we inform you on a monthly basis by email about news, developments, relevant information and any discounts within the field related to your certification.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data:

  • Name

  • E-mail address

Your personal data is stored until you unsubscribe from our newsletter. If you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time. There is an unsubscribe link in every newsletter.

We also analyse the use of our newsletter in order to optimise and improve its content and effectiveness. In this context, we process personal data relating to whether emails are opened, interactions with links in the newsletter, unsubscribe actions, spam reports, and the email client used. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in improving our communications.

When can we share your personal data with third parties?

CCLTE will only share your data with third parties to the extent permitted by current legislation. We may provide your personal data to third parties when:

  • We have engaged them to process certain data;

  • We have a legal basis to do so;

  • We are legally obligated to do so (e.g., if the police demand this in case of a suspicion of a crime).

The parties that process personal data on our behalf or on your behalf are:

International transfer of personal data

Some of our suppliers are located outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). When sharing your personal data with these parties, we implement appropriate safeguards to protect your privacy.  

The European Commission has adopted adequacy decisions for 15 countries. On the basis of such an adequacy decision, personal data can be transferred safely from the EEA to organisations in those countries without the need for additional data protection safeguards.

If we transfer data to organisations in countries without an adequacy decision, or to US organisations that do not participate in the EU US Data Privacy Framework, we implement additional protective measures in the form of appropriate safeguards. This means that we take extra steps to protect your personal data. We use, among other things, Standard Contractual Clauses ("SCCs").

When we transfer your personal data to parties outside the EEA on the basis of SCCs, you have the following rights:

  • To request information about the transfer, including a copy of the SCCs.

  • To contact both us and the receiving party for further information.

  • To lodge a complaint with the receiving party, the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens), a competent court in the EEA, or an independent dispute resolution body.

  • To claim compensation in the event of a breach of the SCCs.

These rights are in addition to your general rights under the GDPR.

Social media buttons

We use social media buttons on our website that redirect you to the relevant social media platforms. This gives you the option to follow us and share content. You will also see advertisements on your social media page. The buttons operate through bits of code provided by the social media networks. What are your privacy rights?

You can always contact us if you have any questions regarding our privacy and cookie statement. Besides that, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: you have the right to access the personal data we process about you. 

  • Right to rectification: you have the right to correct or supplement the personal data we process about you, e.g., if they are incorrect or incomplete.

  • Right to object: you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data and to direct marketing.

  • Right to erasure: you may request us to erase your personal data.

  • Right to withdraw your consent: if you have consented to us processing personal data, you can withdraw your consent at any time.

  • Right to data portability: if it is technologically possible, you have the right to have the personal data we process about you transferred to a third party.

  • Right to restrict processing: in some cases, you can request that we restrict the processing of your personal data (temporarily or otherwise). 

We may ask you for identification to fulfil your request. We require this information to ensure that the requested personal data belongs to the right person.

We will generally comply with your request within one month. However, this period may be extended by two months depending on the specific privacy rights or the complexity of the request. If we extend this period, we will inform you in good time.

When there is a change in our services, we will also need to change our Privacy and cookie statement. Please consult this Privacy and cookie statement regularly for the most up-to-date information.

If you have any questions or wish to make a complaint about the use of your personal data, please send an e-mail to Contact@cclte.org. We will address each question and complaint internally and communicate this further with you. Should you feel we have not been able to help you properly with any questions about your privacy, you have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
